Food Preparation & Serving
As Presbyterians, we gather around meals a lot! We sure can use your help, so skills required!
If you like to bake, how about helping with our Valentine's cookies for our college students and military personnel (see Presbyterian Women). We also sometimes make cookies and take them to our local firefighters. We bake bread to take to our new visitors (see Evangelism Ministry Team). Baked goods are always needed for Vacation Bible School (CARRYS SASSER) and Family Promise (see DAVID HELMS from Missions Ministry Team).
If you like to help in the kitchen, stir a pot, or are a hobby cook, 'Wednesday Night Live' and 'Courtyard Conversations' are our regular events. Periodically, we organize a 'Shrimp Boil'. Food is prepared for our annual 'Church Picnic', the 'Advent Breakfast', the 'Elder Retreat', the 'Spiritual Renewal Weekend', 'Boohoo Brunch' at the Preschool and the 'Vacation Bible School'. Once a month, we share a dish at our communal covered dish luncheon after the 11 o'clock service on the fourth Sunday of the month.
Teaching & Supervising
We are fortunate to have a Director of Discipleship, Christian Education and Youth in CARRYS SASSER.
Although we are using our facilities to the maximum for current Christian Education classes, there is always demand for new and different groups and your input would be most welcome. Contact PAT O'HEAR on our
Christian Education Ministry Team or CARRYS SASSER.
Care & Assistance
Please consider helping with transportation or meal assistance for our physically challenged members, or assist with any arising needs channeled through JIM LEGGE from our
Missions Ministry Team.
We have helped with hurricane repairs as needed. We continually assist people within our congregation with upkeep of property and necessary repairs.
Our church is one of the partner churches for hosting homeless families through the 'Family Promise'.
This ministry can use people who do laundry, spend the night, host a meal, prepare a meal, set up and take down cots, or prepare the facility ahead of these weeks.
If you love to be around little children, our nursery will gladly take volunteers. STACEY VAIL organizes these from the
Christian Education Membership Team.
We have a very caring and committed 'Bereavement Ministry' which accompanies grieving individuals along their painful journey. Please see DOT THREADGILL for details or contact the
Membership Ministry Team.
Clerical & Organizational
For assistance with bulk mailings, volunteering in the church office, website maintenance, newsletter publication etc., contact KEN READY from Administration and Personnel Ministry Team.
Bus Driving & Upkeep
The Church has a 13 passenger bus at our disposal.
For the 11 o'clock service, we offer transportation to and from the church for Westminster Village residents. The Church also has a handicap-accessible van and offers transportation on Sunday mornings and for our 'Wednesday Night Live' community dinner and programs.
If you are able to drive either vehicle, please contact BECKY NAYLOR from the Congregational Life Ministry Team and sign up for the dates that suit you best.
If you are interested in learning about the upkeep of those vehicles or able to help with that in any way, please contact STUART LAGROUE from the
Facilities Ministry Team.
Welcoming & Listening
If you like to socialize and welcome new people, your talents could be used for 'Wednesday Night Live', overseen by BECKY NAYLOR from Congregational Life Ministry Team.
On Sundays, you might be an usher or greeter; please see ANN CURRY from the Worship Ministry Team.
Our Evangelism Ministry Team drops off a welcome loaf of bread to all new visitors and more helpers are always welcome for that.
We also have a very active Stephen Ministry, lead by DOT THREADGILL and ALLIE KING from the Membership Ministry Team.
Our 'Shepherds' maintain casual contacts with members, run under the Membership Ministry Team.
We have a very active 'Prayer Chain', organized by KAY BANKER, also from the Membership Ministry Team.
Of course, there is always Sunday School, or perhaps a social weekday group such as the 'Men's Breakfast Group' or the 'Presbyterian Women'. See also 'Small Groups'.
Balancing Books & Budgets
Are you good with numbers?
We need to count, record, deposit and manage all church funds, generate and review financial statements, organize particular campaigns, oversee our endowment fund, educate and encourage our congregation in their stewardship and giving of time, talents and treasures.
For helping with any of this or similar work, please contact JEFF ALLEN from the
Stewardship and Finance Ministry Team.
Maintenance & Fixing
Can you hold a hammer, assess roof damage, rake leaves, shovel sand, negotiate the best deal from differing job estimates? Then contact STUART LAGROUE from the
Facilities Ministry Team.
Outdoors & Landscaping
We maintain a beautiful little patch of green up at 'top' of Spanish Fort, and we provide a playground for our Preschool at our church. There is always something to be done. Whether you are knowledgeable in landscape design, want to pull out weeds or can contribute a shovel, we would love to see you! Joan Martin from the Facilities Ministry Team would love to hear from you.
Artistic & Creative
Do you enjoy calligraphy, art, painting, drawing, or graphic design?
We would love your help for example in doing the artwork for the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS), help with church plays, engage with our youth, get on board with website maintenance and publicity or come up with new ways to employ our gifts to God's glory! Please see CARRYS SASSER, our Director of Discipleship, Christian Education.
Would you like to be involved in singing, playing an instrument, drama, puppetry, dancing, filming or photography?
Our Director of Music Ministry/Music Educator BONNIE HARIEL knows all about that. Please contact her with any ideas! We would also love to get an online member directory and are always looking for photographers. Contact AMES YOKEL from
Membership Ministry Team.
Are you into crafts, needlepoint, knitting, crocheting or sewing? Maybe our 'Prayer Shawl Ministry' is for you? JUDY PERSONS can help you find your niche, from the
Missions Ministry Team.
Perhaps you know about flower arrangement or interior design? Please help JOYCE MUDRAK from our
Flower Guild and
Wedding Guild. They have a sign-up in the Narthex also. The
Worship Ministry Team can also help you.
College Connection
Would you be good at staying in touch with our members who embark on their college journey or military training? Let them know in your own way that their church is thinking of them and remind them of God's love for them. To get a better idea of the many ways you can help with this, please contact MARCIA GIFFORD from the
Membership Ministry Team.
