Our Church History
Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church was organized in 1960 when a small group of Christians on the Eastern Shore began gathering in their homes to worship.  In early 1961 the group, by then known as Faith Presbyterian Fellowship, was meeting in the Old Spanish Fort Motel.  On December 3, 1961, Mobile Presbytery established the Fellowship as a church, with 60 charter members.  Past ministers at SFPC and their years of service are as follows:
  • Rev. Harold Regan, Pastor   1962-1969
  • Rev. Pierre Burns, Pastor     1970-1993
  • Rev. David Delph, Associate Pastor    1988-1995
  • Rev. Dr. Thomas Lovell, Pastor   1994-1998
  • Rev. Mark Mueller, Associate Pastor   1996-1999
  • Rev. John Boyer, Interim Pastor          1998-2000
  • Rev. Dr. Julian Walthall, Pastor    2000-Present
  • Rev. Anghaarad Teague, Associate Pastor         2001-2005

The first unit of the building, including an award-winning Chapel, was completed in the Fall of 1963.  The Fellowship Hall was completed in 1976, the east and west wings of our educational facilities in 1985, and a new Sanctuary in 1987.  Jewels were added to the crown when beautiful stained glass windows, designed and built entirely by volunteers, were dedicated in 1988.
